RE/MAX REAL ESTATE (MOUNTAIN VIEW)

The Town of Strathmore has quite a history in southern Alberta. Originally a hamlet set up by the Canadian Pacific Railway, it gained notoriety on July 28, 1883. Canadian Pacific Railway building crew manually laid 14 Kilometers of track across the prairies to Cheadle, Alberta in 10 hours which set a record. Unfortunately those tracks are gone due to developments, but the record still stands. The current location of Strathmore is now just a few kilometers north of the original hamlet.

As an agriculture town, the price of land has always been an asset. In the early days, land for sale in Strathmore went for $12 to $15 per acre. Now, $45, 000 per acre is the going rate. Homes for sale in Strathmore are quite affordable with condos under $200, 000 and single family dwellings starting at $200, 000. With any community in the current market, the average days on market are dependent on the area and the cost of the property.

There are many positive aspects of buyingreal estate in Strathmore and living in the rural community. The town motto of Strathmore is “Where Quality of Life is a Way of Life”. The mix of modern and historic buildings, quiet tree lined streets, schools and day cares are a nice balance for a relaxed lifestyle. Aquatic centers, parks and pathways, and a splash park for the kids all encompass that motto.

Agriculture is the main economy, yet, those who are not in the agriculture commute to Calgary daily for work. The town has all the regular amenities like grocery stores, gas stations, coffee shops and gyms. While looking for homes for sale in Strathmore, the choices and areas are as vast as the community itself.

Whether it is the rolling fields, or bare land for sale in Strathmore, or the various beautiful homes for sale in Strathmore, there is definitely something for everyone who want to slow down the pace of life and become part of a rural community that emphasizes quality of life. The shift to rural living has never been more prominent in society. Getting back to ones roots, slowing down the pace and taking in the fresh air and scenery. Strathmore is the place to be.
