Living in Calgary, AB
Calgary, in the province of Alberta, is a great city to live and raise a family. In Calgary you live with high quality of life and reliable services, and is one of the safest urban environments in the world.
As a Latin immigrant, I've grown to love and consider Calgary my home. It's both urban and new, while at the same time holding its western roots and heritage. Besides that, you're steps away from the Canadian Rocky Mountains and have a wealth of outdoor adventure at your disposal. In a city of just over one million people, nine thousand of those are Latin. This has allowed for the Latin community to grow and flourish in Calgary with Mexicans, Colombians, Venezuelans, and others all building a relationships.
With the hope of strengthening the Calgary Latin community, I created the Latin web portal www.holacalgary.com . Hola Calgary has grown and through time has become the go-to place to check out events happening in Calgary, the place that holds a comprehensive and complete Latin business directory, and a forum that continues to grow and build bonds between Calghary Latin and other Calgarians alike.
As Calgary continues to grow and flourish, as does the real estate market new communities are springing up constantly, and old ones continue to age with charm. For a province that is just over 100 years old, it has a strong economy and a bright future- Calgary is the place you want to be.
In Calgary it is easy to buy a house- remember that while the money you pay to rent every month will never benefit you again, the payments you make on a home build equity and represent a gain to your net worth and the formation of a valuable inheritance. So first thing on your list is to find a mortgage broker or a bank (I can recommend you a few) and complete the application to take out a mortgage and get a pre-approved letter. As your Real Estate agent I will take you through most of the next steps: making an offer, depositing a down payment, arranging a home inspection and hand you the keys to your new home on possession day.
If you only have a couple of months living in Calgary, and you find that your mortgage broker can only pre-approved you for a low amount which will not afford you a house, then you need to wait a few months and save more money. The only way you can find out what your chances are - is by asking!
