Bridgleand is among the oldest communities in this area, and as such has many historic landmarks. The community goes all the way back to 1880’s. At first, this community was called Germantown, primarily because its initial inhabitants were ethnic German people who had come from Russian Empire. However, the demographic of this area changed from the beginning of 20th Century, when immigrants from Ukraine and Italy were in majority here. In recent past, the area was also known as Riverside, but then the name was changed to its present name—Bridgeland.
